The 6” blade is stainless steel, the hilt is nickel silver. The scalloped collar and butt cap are brass. Also note that the butt cap is pinned, no nut.

I would not have thought the mixed metals would look this good but the brass goes great with the wood and the hilt with the blade. Very unique.

The handle is rosewood, shaped commando style.

Beginning in the very early 70’s Randall started using Westinghouse Micarta as a handle material. It was near white and thought to be a good substitute for Delrin and ivory. As the material is subjected to UV light, it turns a beautiful yellow, hence the name “Old Yellow”. It was phased out in the late 1980’s when Westinghouse discontinued the product. It is one of the most collectable material Randall has used.

This feller is an awesome example from the mid 1970’s.

It has an 8” stainless steel blade, brass hilt, scalloped brass collar, commando shaped handle and a scalloped brass butt cap.

The sheath is a Johnson rough back.

The word rare gets tossed around a lot when it comes to vintage Randalls, but this one….. is rare.

When Randall was seeking a replacement for Tenite Micarta came on the scene. First brown, then black.

When they were experimenting with it they used the same attachment screw process as on Tenite. This is one of those. I have seen a few of these around compared to hundreds of Tenite knives.

This guy still has his original price tag on the handle $60!

We bought this knife in a collection and it was not finished. Originally these knives were commissioned by Rick Schuchmann of SCAR Knives. There were two models, a #1 fighter and a combat companion. Each had different scrim themes.

Richard Hutchings did the scrim on the originals, so I asked him to finish this one. It’s a bit unique since he put the scrim theme form the model #1 on this Combat Companion. He marked it #01/01

This one takes it further with a pinned stag handle and a brass back blade.

The sheath is a replacement, but cool in it’s own way. You don’t see too many no hone sheaths from this era.
