Of all the embellished Randall knives Tom Leschorn’s work is easily the most collectable.

This guy was done in the mid 1960’s, note the low S blade stamp.

It’s a model #12 Little Bear Bowie.

The ivory inlays are carved with a Bear on one side and rams on the other.

I do not know the species of wood, but it is gorgeous with great depth and grain.

Brass hardware front and back in a Johnson rough back sheath.

This Little Bear Bowie is dressed with a stainless blade, nickel silver hilt, aluminum spacers and an aluminum domed butt cap.

The handle material is very unique. It is “Pink Ivory”. Here is a clip from the web:

Pink Ivory is a vibrantly colored, dense and extraordinary wood, considered by many to be one of the rarest woods in the world. Possession of the wood was once punishable by death if you were not a Zulu king. Looking more like scrub than a traditional tree, tree heights generally range from 20-35 feet tall with diameters of 6" up to 12". Because of its size, the yield is small, adding to the rarity of this species. Pink Ivory is found scattered along the southeastern African plains. Only the heart wood produces the stunning watermelon pinkish-red color.

This may be a first…..

Starting with the knife, it’s a model #4 with a 4-1/2” stainless blade.

The hilt, name plate and but plate are nickel silver.

The engraving is by Jere Davidson, notice the gold inlays.

The handle is fossilized walrus which has been carved by Rick Dunkerly. If you don’t know Ricks work, check him out. He is one of the best makers in the world.

It’s a mid 1960 knife, tool steel, 7 spacer, brass hilt with a polished stag handle. I guess you could call it poor man’s ivory.

The shop offered this for years but it has been discontinued.
